Gamers Remain Loyal To Sony Network Despite Recent Downtime

A recent survey revealed that consumer confidence in the PlayStation 3, Sony and the PlayStation Network has not been weakened by over three weeks downtime of the network caused by a serious breach in security. The survey showed that gamers intend to stick with the console and are not ready to leave Sony.





The complete loyalty of Sony PlayStation Network customers show they are more than happy to forgive Sony for its trouble and to "forgive and forget". A big percentage of customers said that they would trust Sony going forward, simply because the security breach forced the company to add stricter security measures, the survey also revealed that 71 percent claimed the security breach had no effect of their overall opinion of online games and services, and 57 percent said Sony’s response to the breach was handled appropriately.





The ‘unauthorized network access’ has been a huge financial hit to Sony and in a recent statement released by them, the estimated cost of this attack is roughly $172 million. A report shows that sales lagged in the UK in the weeks after the PlayStation Network shut down but then again improved after Sony restored the network.






Currently, as it stands the users of Sony’s PlayStation Network do certainly have plenty to complain about but most have not jumped ship. For those gamers who have kept the faith there is plenty in store to them with their ‘welcome back’ appreciation programme.
